A Wee Trip to Scotland

We got into Edinburgh around 10 pm so we only had time to get checked in and go in search for a place to eat.  Now the only close, and open place was McDonald's and KFC. Se we walked into KFC, ready for the typical KFC, and guess what they don't even sell there famous rolls, Mac and cheese, or mashed potatoes! They give you chicken and french fries! But at a certain McDonald's in Scotland you can get a seal burger! We got to walk part of the royal mile and see a stature.
The next day we got on our three day tour through a company called Haggis. We had the best guide( Tony) who was just a hoot, we were all just cracking up within the first five minutes. Overall we drove 600 miles in too the highlands, it was absolutely stunning!
Now expecting the typical Scotland weather we were excited for the cold after being so hot everywhere else, however we were informed that out of the whole year there are really only about five nice days and we just happened to get three days straight in a row! It was a present surprise however they reported that everyone was getting sunburn and having to go to the hospital.
Our amazing, funny tour guide Tony.
With all the windy roads we decided I sit in the front, our guide, Tony was an absolute delight to have on the tour he even wore a kilt one day! Sitting in the front we got joked with us alot so everyone on the tour knew our names, it was really funny talking to people and them telling us they only knew our names and Nemo ( not like finding nemo, he's from Sweden and super funny) because he joked with us
all the time.  Now we would drive places and than stop and get out look, hike, eat, see castles, trains and it was absolute beautiful landscape but I don't know what it is but once we would get on the bus after about a half hour people in the bus would start to get tired and slowly people would be falling asleep, now Tony has this Highland cow stuffed animal that he calls the "Hairy cow" but with his accent I sounds like " Hairy cu" and when we would fall asleep and something important was coming up he would just throw it at us. It was hilarious! I even got hit once and he would reply, " look at this beautiful landscape your missing, you can sleep when you go back to London with that fake air" he was so funny I would recommend it to everyone!  Our group had a great cohesiveness, and I truly enjoyed he people in the tour.
They even have hairy cu chocolate!
Now learning the history( very violent), we learned about the different clans and one just happens to have the surname of Mackenzie ( spelled right and everything) so whenever we would stop they would have lots of things with my name on it, so I loved that about Scotland. We learned that Mc or Mac at the front of the name means " son of" so Mackenzie means son of Kenneth, so wherever I went I always looked out for anything that dealt with them.
Something that has been interesting going through Europe is how people assume that mom and I are usually friends or sisters. This time was no exception, and to be honest it's really funny to watch there expression, Tony was even trying to set her up with our driver Jason!
Now of course since our tour is named after it  and to say you ate the local cuisine we had to try Haggis,  not to bad, really I just think that thinking about what I was eating spoiled it for me. For those of you who don't know, I don know if you want to know ha ha, so fair warning for the next sentence. Haggis is..... " a Scottish dish made from chopped lamb's heart, lungs, and liver mixed with suet, oats, onions, and seasoning"
We got to go to the Isle of Sky while listening to Sky bridge by Adele and of course traditional Scottish Music. We went on multiple hikes and even got to see a guy on a mountain traditionally dressed and playing the bagpipes. We got to spend time playing in lakes and rivers. Hearing history , went and learned about traditional dress.
We went on Locke(Lake) Ness and just immensely enjoyed the beautiful scenery that Scotland had to offer.
The third day they dropped us out and we had til 11 pm til our train left.
The streets were alive due to a concert that was being held and we stumbled upon some of our friends from the tour and to them. We went to the grave yard where we found the gravestones that J.K. Rollings was inspired for many of her characters including Professor Mckgonagal, Mad Eye Moody, Tom Riddle and a few others. We read the story about the dog Bobby who after his owners death went and laid by his grave everyday and was eventually adopted by the whole town and after his death was buried outside of the cemetery.  We than ate at the Elephant House where J.K. Rolling wrote Harry Potter. I even got to sit in this chair that was a giant wood elephant! Heads up though the services was terrible, we had to share a table with this couple that was showing excessive amounts of PDA and the food was okay.
At dark we went to the train station and later on that night we got to board the Caledonian Express which is a sleeper train, it was a really cool experiences and we both slept well.
~More Pictures to Come~

The Doctor in the Airport!

After flying from Munich airport to London Heathrow we went to  get on our connecting flight, but it was three ours away and Heathrow has this annoying thing where they don't tell you the name of the gate until 40 mins  until departure...sometimes less. So after we found the right terminal and we went through security we were looking for a place to sit down when we came across the one and only Tardis! From the show Doctor Who, a popular BBC show they had a specialty attraction where they had the Tardis photo booth, a Darleck and a put your face in as the Doctor and Clara's. Since I watch the show at home I was ecstatic! My mom has watched part of the show and one or two episodes so we got to go in the complimentary photo booth and got these photos!
 THE WEEPING ANGELS!

Now after we had a Fabulous time, killing time set we found a seat and waited to get the gate for the plane. After waiting two hours to get our gate we went to the terminal only to get there and being informed that we need to go back and go through customs. After running all the way to customs we had to fill out some forms and than we had to go back through Security making it three times that day. We started running and after we go through we started walking only to start to hear a bunch of names being called on the intercom. I turned to my mom and was like well at least that's not our plane, talk about bad timing because the next names were us! Mom was like "Go Go, I'll meet you there" So I took off and shortly arrived we got on and on the way down the aisle the flight attendant came up to my mom and was like "here let me take your backpack for you" ( remember now,it had tennis shoes and pillows hung on the outside of it)"your kinda hitting people in the face with it." It was hilarious and very stressful but we made it...barley!

Bavaria .... Aka Munich Germany

Munich Germany, know to the people as Buavaria was a favorite from day one! We decided that we wanted to start off getting to know the city itself by taking a free walking tour aka your tip is what pays for the tour. What we thought was going to be a 2 hour of brief history and culture was really 4 and a half hour long tour filled with not only history and culture but gave us a insight to, Germany, Bulgaria, economics, religion, history and so much more . helping us not feel like an ignorant tourist but helped us feel like we had already spent a week here...and we did. We literately hit the ground running with this tour. Our tour guide was very passionate about the tour and at first we were jogging just to keep up with him. Within five minutes of starting we had already witnessed a truck hit a car! With already  an exciting way to start the trip our guide announced right as we started that he was setting the walking pace and if he tapped you on the shoulder you weren't going fast enough! With his long legs everyone was trying to keep up. We started at the church where he gave us a thirty min lesson about the history. Honestly this was one of the best tours we went on, it taught me more about not only Munich but World War Two and how many of our problems today are linked to it. Munich itself is one  of 16 states however Bavaria technically is its own country because they never sighed the same constitution. Mostly  anything you can think of that is stereotypical of Germany is actually Bavaria  this includes Nazis ( started in Munich) and  Lederhosen .
We got o see the Glockenspiel followed by eating of some delicious sausages , and we tried one one of there specialty drinks that has coke and orange juice, even though I'm not a big fan of pop I really enjoined the Mezzo mix . We got a traditional dessert and got to walk in the market. We saw the opera house, stores, the building where the the Nazi party was started, beer garden, Homburg ( beer hall aka what they call a restaurant) the only beer hall owned by the state. It was a very informative tour and was really fun. At the end of the tour the guide asked about 10 people (some of his favorites , including us,) to go and get  a drink, we were like we don't drink and he goes you can get some wine, and we were like no we don't drink at all, and he goes what are you Mormon and we go yes! His reply was well than get some apple juice!  It was funny but we decided to go back to store that had this bag my mom wanted. We than spent the rest of the city retracing our steps and just browsing stores and enjoying the culture.
Our second day we got up early to go to Neuschwanstein  Castle, it was a two hour trip there followed by immediately jumping on bikes and riding around the castle along with a loop with their Swan Lake. We than stopped where some people swam, I waded in the Alps water lake, it was really cold and rocky. After the bike ride with some amazing views we got to go on the alpine slide followed by a magic show. We than took the bus up to the castle where my mom braved her fear and went on Mary's bridge and we took a 27 min tour through the castle.
Our third day we went on a five hour tour to Dachau the first concentration camp open for 12 yeas. It was emotional but we had a great guide that showed us around. Is was weird standing in a place where you know such death, disease and misery took place. We also got to watch a video that the United States troops that liberated the camp took it was shocking! They showed the piles of bodies just waiting to be barried and burned something else that hit me hard was when they showed those who lived in the city going through the camp. Another fact that I found interesting was that they required that those in the city come and see what they had been allowing to happen in there city. They still have survivors that come on the anniversary of when the camp was liberated on April 20 th. we got to go through a gas chamber and as I stood in there it was a very somber feeling as you walk and you think that where you stand groups of 150 people were murdered. It is something that will always live in my mind. And as the one of the memorials says we must never forget
Overall Munich has to of been our favorite city it's just is a collection of amazing things to see and I would recommend in a heartbeat coming and enjoying it for yourself!

~* More pictures to come of Munich*~

The Hills Are Alive With The Sound of Music

Salzburg- known to world as the home of the Vantrap family as well as the Sound Of Music movie. Having only one full day we scheduled the cheesy and awesome, Sound of Music tour. As the bus pulled up with Julia Andrews and the children how could you not just smile. As we picked people up I would always watch the men's faces it was just hilarious. I turned to my mom and was like " I bet she made him come on" she laughed and we asked them and sure enough that was the fact.
No matter how cheesy it was, we ate it right up! We got to see the back if the house where Maria and the children fall out of the canoe. The front  of the house( different location) and the gazebo though sadly didn't get to go on the inside because some 90 year old lady was jumping from bench to bench and broke something closing the inside to visitors.  We than drove to some beautiful picturesque locations including a lake, hills and the church used for filming. It was really beautiful, ate a streusel and to end the tour sang Edelweiss and took a picture with the sound of music cow!
We ate at this adorable little garden cafe with the most divine salad and the surfers wore real Lederhosen. Something that was different, and I guess this is how it is in most places in Europe is that eating  especially at a restaurant is more of an experience and really about the social part of dinner. We had to practically chase them down to get the bill to get out.

Guten Morgen From Vienna

We spent five days, three whole days in Vienna. Our hostel was in an ideal location to catch public transport. We first went to a smaller version of the  palace of Versailles in Paris. We spent an extra euro to get a guided tour and lucky us we ended up with only two other people in the tour. It made it really nice because we really got to interact with the guide. It was just like having a personal guide. We really enjoined it! We than got to hike to the Gloria where we got to go on the roof for a beautiful panoramic of the city. Than we went in the gardens to the maze and wondered through there for a bit. We didn't have time to go into the oldest zoo in the world but we did walk by it. We ate at this cute little garden cafe where we had our first schnitzel and it was good but nothing compared to Figimuller. Now in Prague on one of our tours we had meet this couple who insisted that we must find this restaurant that they loved! We were able to find it but we had to wait in line for an hour and thirty mins!  I was so hungry by the time we got there I told my mom " I don't care how good the food is it's not worth it"... o was I wrong.. it was heavenly I love Austrian food! Maybe it was because I was so hungry but that Schnitzel was to die for.  O it was delicious! I would recommended it to you all! We have provley already recommended it to 15 people lalready it's that good! We even made reservations for the next night where we only waited 5 mins. My mom loved the salad which had this pumpkin (mustery taste) it was great as well.
We than spent a day just in the hostel relaxing, we just seem to be always going going going so it was nice to have a day to relax. We than went to there main place.
We got to go into the cici museum which was interesting as well as walk through some of the apartments. Honestly though  I didn't enjoy this one as much as the tour from the day before, we had 30 people on the tour and the museum rooms were tiny.

One thing that I have really enjoined about going on these tours is that they connect all over the place, you go to one country and here how they are related to the another country and the information builds on itself.
THE FIRST FREE PUBLIC DRINKING WATER FOUNTAIN THAT WE FOUND IN ALL OF EUROPE! Now that's worth takings picture of!

We stumbled across this building which to be honest I don't know what the true use of the  building was but it was one of my favorite buildings we saw in Austria. We walked up the stairs and what lay before us was what I would describe as the library from Beauty and the Beast, it was beautiful and making it even better is that it had been transformed in to a museum so we got to know about some of the famous people from Vienna. I really enjoined the library and would  consider it one of my favorite things there.  Not only was it stunning inside but I got in for free too!
We than went to this art museum where my mom wanted to go see  Picasso pieces, we went and saw that and than went to this other part of the museum that was terrible! We pretty much walked fast through it all to get out. They had these odd pictures of people with like bandages on them, blood or like Donald Duck. Odd huh? Ya, it was just dark and there was a weird vibe in there so we blew through that and went to

One of my favorite things that we've done this trip is going to the park located in near the city center and watch on the big screen and old black and white movie. Making sure we went an saw a English version we saw Midsummer's Night Dream. It was great everyone was there, we sat by the fountain and even got to sit in one of the comfy bean bags with a view of this beautiful building behind us.
One if the last things we did was make sure to go to the restaurant that 20 ish years ago Grandma and Grandpa Tobler had went to. I got the most delicious Cordon blu, and than we just went and walked the city.
